School Director
Erica Mulcahy
Erica has been living and teaching piano in Portugal for nine years. Before that, teaching in Ireland and South Korea. She founded the school in 2018.
Erica developed the music teaching methodology in use at IMBAS. At its core is a system of learning that promotes the students' development of a positive connection to music.
Through her method, students of IMBAS build confidence, refine focus and discover the joy of performance.

Piano
Adriano Murgia
Adriano is originally from Sardinia, Italy. He holds a masters in piano performance from "L. Canepa" Conservatory of Sassari.
He has participated in numerous masterclasses, won prizes in piano competitions and has performed in concerts throughout Europe.
He is passionate about classical piano. He teaches beginners up to advanced students; sharing his love of classical music with students of all ages.

Piano and Vocal Coach
Maria Voitenkova
Maria is a multilingual teacher and from Riga, Latvia, fluent in English, Russian, Dutch, and Latvian. She graduated from the Royal Conservatoire of the Hague, with a bachelor's degree in Jazz Vocals. Maria is an expert in various musical genres and provides personalised singing and piano lessons in various levels and styles. She has a friendly and personal approach, adapting her teaching methods to the needs of her students, focusing on building up confidence, posture and stage presence.

Drums
Halison Peres
Halison is from Brazil. His love for drums brought him into a marching band at a very young age where he learned and developed the basis of skills. As well as being an experienced recording/session drummer, he performs live with two well-known rock bands in Portugal and Europe. At IMBAS he teaches drums using an interactive method with dynamic lessons to get the most fun of it, never forgetting focus, discipline, and theory.

Vocal Coach
Elisa Rodrigues
Elisa is a Portuguese international jazz singer who started performing live at the age of 8. Although she pursued other academic subjects, music has remained a source of pleasure, self-discovery, self-love, and confidence. At age 24, she recorded her first album, which became a best-seller in Portugal and earned her the title of the country's best jazz singer in 30 years. Today, she is a passionate and experienced vocal coach for students of all ages and skill levels.

Saxophone, Clarinet and Composing
Tomás Boto
Tomás Boto is a Saxophonist and Clarinetist as well as a composer/arranger. He graduated from the Royal Conservatoire in the Hague with a bachelor's and master's degree in Jazz Saxophone. He is also experienced in composing and arranging for large ensembles. Passionate about Jazz and also interested in diverse genres, he teaches from beginner to advanced students of all ages. Focusing on improvisation and the students own expression in music, Tomás blends theory and technical abilities in a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere.

Violin, Classical Singing and Piano
Miroslava Takova
Born in Bulgaria, Miroslava (Mira) graduated from the Sofia State Musical Academy having studied violin, singing, piano and chamber music. She has performed in numerous International Concerts and Orchestras, including being a part of Michael Buble's concerts in Portugal. Mira is passionate about teaching violin, classical singing and also piano to students of all ages and skill levels.
